Sherborne Castle (Sherborne)
Set in magnificent parkland and gardens around a 50 acre lake, the castle was built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594. To the north there are the ruins of the Sherborne first castle, built by the Normans in the 12th century. Free car parking.

Milton Abbey (Milton Abbas)
Magnificent 15th Century Benedictine Abbey Church, situated in a dramatic parkland setting, landscaped by ‘Capability Brown’, adjoined today to Milton Abbey School. It is half a mile from the idyllic estate village of Milton Abbas. There are guided tours of both the Abbey House and Abbey Church.

The Shrine of St Wite (Whitchurch Canonicorum)
Dating from the early 13th Century, this unique shrine in the church is said to have healing powers and is a place of pilgrimage for many. Wonderful to say that after 1000 years St Wite is still exercising her ancient role as helper of the sick. The only other intact pre-reformation shrine is in Westminster Abbey.
